Northern Light Rehabilitation – Bangor, ME

Northern Light Rehabilitation set out to redesign their space at 900 Hammond St. in Bangor, ME. Gawron Turgeon Architects, P.C. were brought on to provide interior design services throughout the office space, rehabilitation space, lobby, and more.

This facility’s purpose was to provide high quality care, accessibility, and comfort to patients & clients of Northern Light Rehabilitation. The lobby that greets patients was designed to highlight current staff members and to provide ample space. Each patient room was designed with medical needs of the patient, as well as operational needs of the staff in mind. The physical therapy and rehabilitation space had a set amount of space, so the goal of the design was to provide privacy while making the space functional and purposeful. Lastly, private working areas were installed in smaller rooms to allow for virtual appointments, meetings, and phone calls with patients, so that the transition from treating a patient in the rehabilitation facility and assisting someone virtually would be steps away from each other.

Color was a focus throughout, as you can see above in the patient care zones within the gym and in the children’s area. As you can see above, employees customized the reception area with a painted tree that had portraits of staff members at the end of each branch so that incoming patients would become acquainted to them immediately.

This project was completed in the summer of 2022, with final personal touches on the lobby paintings.
