Sustainable design for senior living
Gawron Turgeon Architects, P.C. has a number of LEED AP certified designers at the firm. It is standard practice of us to incorporate green practices into all our projects to some extent. When a client is particularly interested in sustainable design, we are able to implement features, such as: solar panels to support low electricity operating costs and water heating, walking trails to provide residents with connectivity to local amenities, and insulation methods appropriate for New England’s varied seasons.
A recent article in Green & Healthy Maine describes how senior living communities in Maine are adopting these sustainable design methods as they build diverse residential opportunities for Maine’s seniors.
As the architects for both Highland Green and Plummer Senior Living—part of OceanView at Falmouth—GTA is proud to be playing an active role in sustainable development in Maine.
