Herman Miller Architecture and Design Workshop

Herman Miller Architecture and Design Workshop

Here at Gawron Turgeon Architects, P.C. we believe in continued learning. To this end, we encourage our employees to take advantage of opportunities for professional and personal growth.

Our Director of Interior Design, Deirdre Pio, was recently invited by Herman Miller to attend an exclusive two-day Architecture and Design Workshop at their headquarters in Zeeland, Michigan. This workshop represented a unique chance for a select group of designers from Maine to tour the Herman Miller archives, the Herman Miller Design Yard, the Midwest Distribution Center and the newly restored Eames House. The visiting designers also learned in depth about the Herman Miller philosophy, their research and development process and the direction they are taking with their furniture designs over the next five years. A core focus was their concept of the “Living Office” and creating “naturally human workspaces.”

Deirdre returned to Scarborough excited by her time in Michigan. “We covered so much content over the last two days, but some of the highlights were learning about Herman Miller’s philosophy regarding intentional design, flexibility, accessibility and changing the way we think about how our customers are utilizing and working in their designed environments”.

Deirdre has shared some photos from her trip that give a taste of the hive of activity at Herman Miller.
