The Schooner Estates senior living community continues to grow with the completion of a new, 48,000 square foot Memory Care Home. Nestled into eight acres on their Auburn, Maine campus, this state-of-the-art facility was designed by Gawron Turgeon Architects, P.C. (GTA) in partnership with Sandy River Company, Schooner Estates, Lincoln Haney Engineers, Sebago Technics, Bennett Engineering and Landry French Construction.
This innovative facility is grouped into three, 22-bed neighborhoods for a total of 66 units. Specially designed to improve the quality of life for people living with memory impairment, the building features a circadian lighting system. This indoor lighting helps to reinforce natural light/dark signals, which aids in regulating the body’s internal functions performed throughout the day. The facility also includes secured outdoor garden spaces for walks and activities, as well as areas that include built-in hearing loop systems. This technology connects to individuals’ hearing aids, improving ease of listening in these environments. Custom apartment door colors and finishes complete the engaging, positive environment.
Schooner Estates’ Memory Care Home broke ground in late October 2018 and was completed in 2020.
