One City Center Plaza

Gawron Turgeon Architects, P.C. was retained to revitalize this prominent city plaza in downtown Portland. The Client wished to retain existing travel paths to the building while creating fresh interest for pedestrians using the space.

Working closely with the City, GTA created one of Portland’s most creative exterior environments, with particular attention to incorporating:

  • Paving interest that also serves to support wayfinding;
  • Seat walls and refurbished planting beds; and
  • New landscape and plantings that thrive under the location’s high sun exposure.

Through meticulous construction coordination with the City, the project was installed in a manner that preserved open egress paths for emergency access and enabled surrounding businesses to remain open during construction.
