Hillside at Village Square – Gorham, ME

The Village Square campus gained a fifth building with the addition of Hillside at Village square. This new, affordable senior living building is a a four story, twenty-seven unit addition. It contains laundry facilities with two washers and two dryers, community space, a staff office, and a telemedicine room. Seventeen units are set aside for households earning 50% or less of Area Median Income (AMI) and ten units are set aside for households earning 60% or less of AMI. Approximately nineteen parking spaces were added to the parcel as part of the new development. The footprint of the existing unoccupied office space became a plaza for resident gatherings and events.

This development joins Ridgewood at Village Square, one of several Avesta Housing developments in Maine. Gawron Turgeon Architects, P.C. created this LEED Platinum design that addressed energy efficiency, comfort and sustainability, all while working within the client’s budget. Certified by both Enterprise Green Communities and Energy Star, Ridgewood at Village Square also produces 50% of its own energy.
