Dirigo Federal Credit Union – Scarborough, ME

Gawron Turgeon Dillon Architects, P.C. collaborated with The Element Group on Dirigo Federal Credit Union’s fifth and latest branch, and its first in Southern Maine, at 424 Payne Road in Scarborough.

Renovating an existing commercial building, the completed 8,085-square-foot development contains an approximately 4,000-square-foot full-service credit union branch and two additional tenant spaces in view of one of Scarborough’s busiest roads. The branch includes a lobby, member service stations, teller area, private offices, conference room, workspaces, support spaces, and more.

The interior combines contemporary banking services with warm, natural materials. High ceilings, abundant natural light, and accessible member spaces create a polished but approachable environment. Two drive-up interactive teller machines provide traditional ATM functionality as well as live video assistance.

Exterior improvements include a complex metal roof, multiple coordinated siding systems, new storefront and entrance elements, and updated site circulation. The completed project transforms a previously underused property into an active financial and commercial destination.
