Gosnell Memorial Hospice House

Gawron Turgeon Architects, P.C. was selected by Hospice of Southern Maine to design an 18-bed hospice facility in Scarborough, Maine. This facility is one of the first in Maine to provide residential and inpatient care and services to end-of-life patients and their families in a home-inspired setting.

The layout of Gosnell Memorial Hospice House emphasizes privacy, dignity and inclusion of family members. The design includes large windows for an abundance of natural light, while also ensuring that each patient has views from their beds to attractive outdoor gardens and trees, providing a calm environment connected to nature. The patient rooms accommodate family members with a family area, kitchenette and sofa bed, while clinical features enable support staff to provide the best care to each patient. Common areas include a living room, a kitchen and a sanctuary for quiet contemplation or spiritual comfort.

Selected for our extensive experience with healthcare design and our sensitivity to the program requirements, we assisted with site selection, promotional graphics and working with the committee through the design and construction. We have continued to partner with Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on multiple renovation projects.
