Gawron Turgeon Architects, P.C. worked with the Brunswick Housing Authority and Avesta Housing to create this 40-unit affordable housing project. The Creekside project complied with Maine Housing’s Green Building Standards, which address site, building design, energy efficiency, inspection, indoor environmental quality, materials, and construction practices. This approach—in combination with quality design and construction practices—have resulted in the owner reporting lower than expected heating costs. Heating efficiencies translate into significant operational savings in a state like Maine, with its harsh winters.
Creekside Village includes one- and two-bedroom apartments. Shared amenities include a community room with a warming kitchen for resident gatherings, laundry rooms on all three floors for ease of resident access, and resident storage units. An outdoor space that is defined by a patio and a pergola provides a pleasant seating area adjacent to raise garden beds.
