Celebrating Women in Construction Week with Jenna!
MEET JENNA SEARS, CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATOR!
In honor of not only International Women’s Day on March 8th, but also Women in Construction week, we would like to highlight our Construction Administrator, Jenna Sears!
Arriving at Gawron Turgeon last year, Jenna has already made her mark on projects like Breakwater Commons, Hillside Village, and Mousam River Dentistry. To celebrate all that is Jenna, we’d like to take a deep dive into her career and how she landed at Gawron Turgeon.
Jenna began her career with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, propelling her into a Translation Manager position in New York City. While working in the city, Jenna honed her project management and organization skills. With the call to Maine, Jenna found herself wondering “what do I want to be when I grow up?”
Jenna comes from a family deeply invested in the trades- with one relative being an inventor! Her family built their own homes, and she always had an interest in that process of designing a home. She was hired at a landscaping company in desperate need for an overall project manager to handle everything under their umbrella. The landscaping company also handled renovation projects for high-profile clients, and Jenna was brought back to her interest of drawing to scale, quality control, and picking a process apart to perfection.
She progressed in her career and took on a role in construction soon after the landscaping company. Her project management skills were turning out to be the perfect tool to bring with her in her career wherever she desired! In an industry that is so specialized and requires quite a bit from a highly skilled workforces, Jenna succeeds with a skillset that merged her past with universal skills. To cap things off, Jenna summarizes her career so far;
“Don’t be afraid to take what you know and apply it somewhere else.”
