Maine Home and Design magazine features The Mooring at the Downs
Maine Home and Design has featured The Mooring at the Downs in its annual interiors issue. The issue, which includes both commercial and residential properties, showcases the best interior design projects throughout the state of Maine.
The article focuses on the expansive laundry room at The Mooring at the Downs. In creating this space, we worked closely with our client, Lynne Peel, to blend coastal elegance with optimal functionality. To do this, we placed cool-toned cabinets against a crisp white tile wall for a soothing appearance, while prioritizing accessibility for the housemates who utilize this room.
Throughout the design process, we collaborated with our client to create a home that combined classic New England style with the latest innovations in memory care. The Mooring at the Downs houses 12 private rooms in a small-house model to enhance connectedness and a sense of community for residents. Each housemate has an individual suite with a spacious bedroom/living room and private bath, which opens up to familiar shared spaces. The Mooring encourages housemates to participate in a variety of everyday activities, from cooking to exercising, which take on new meaning in a memory care setting.
The home is nestled into the residential neighborhood at The Downs, providing housemates with the opportunity to spend time outside walking through the village, tending to their vegetable gardens, or relaxing in the private, enclosed patio area. This enables each resident to safely socialize and enjoy the benefits of their community.
This attention to detail at every level has resulted in a place that truly feels like home. To read more about The Mooring at the Downs, visit https://themooringatthedowns.com/
